Poly(lactide acid) (PLA) was melt-blended with ethylene copolymer containing glycidyl methacrylate(DupontTM Elvaloy® PTW, GMA content 3~5 wt%) in the presence of ethyltriphenylphosphnium bromide(ETPB) as a catalyst in an internal mixer. The thermal, mechanical and rheological properties of the blend were investigated by means of Izod impact test, tensile test, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA), and small amplitude oscillatory shear rheomerty. Increasing the ethylene copolymer content in the blend improved the impact strength and strain to failure while decreasing the tensile strength and modulus values. The addition of 50~100 ppm catalyst during blending improved the impact strength and elongation at break compared to the blend without catalyst. |
