The objective of this study was performed to evaluate the bond strength of base and catalyst two part self-adhesive resin cement. Generally, in the ‘two part” resin cements one of the parts incorporates the aromatic tertiary amine and the other the benzoyl peroxide(BPO) and a stabilizer to control the start of polymerization, usually butyl hydroxytoluene(BHT). In this study we investigate the bond strength on bovine dentin by the amine contents. Within the limitations of the current study, it can be concluded that the highest bond strength valueswere showed at the lower amine contents. One of the reasons was a side reaction. A possible side reaction was its reaction with radicals present in the reaction mixture, such as nitroxides formed from an excess of amine. |
