Study on the preparation of ethylenepropylenediene terpolymer (EPDM) based graft copolymers employing polystyrene or poly(ethylene oxide) as side chains |
초록 |
In this study, we report the preparation of EPDM graft copolymers composed of EPDM as a backbone and polystyrene or poly(ethylene oxide) as side chains. Polystyrene was first synthesized through reversible addition and fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) technique, followed by a “grafting-onto” copolymerization reaction with ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer (EPDM). The preparation of a EPDM-graft-poly(ethylene oxide) was also attempted through “grafting-onto” polymer reaction. NR/EPDM co-vulcanizations were then performed in the presence of the EPDM-graft-polystyrene or EPDM-graft-poly(ethylene oxide) and their properties were investigated for rubber applications.
