Organic UV filters like ethylhexyl triazone (EHT) are generally used dueto their outstanding aesthetic properties. Also, organic sunscreen materialsare relatively free from safety issues. However, when EHT is polymerized, thebenzene rings of EHT interact each other by π-stacking, π-stacked moleculesform crystal structure and decrease UV absorption. Herein, we propose microsun-oil emulsion systems to prevent crystallization using hydrophobicallymodified pulp cellulose (PC). For this, PC was oxidized to introduce dialdehydecellulose (DAC). Then octadecylamine was added to make C18-diamine pulpcellulose (C18-DIPC). From rheological analysis, we found that C18-DIPC formeda robust network. Moreover, C18-DIPC showed higher Sun protection factor (SPF)value than other common surfactants such as Tween 20. Based on these results, our C18-DIPC stabilized micro sun-oil emulsions are expected to be used notlimited to UV filters but is applicable to protect unstable materials itself |
