Separation of few-layer-graphene was investigated via natural sedimentation process compared to centrifugation. For this, natural graphite was oxidized via modified Hummers method and subjected to grafting of aryl diazonium salts (sulfonic acid) at 1mg/mg graphite. Next, the solution was sonicated at 40 kHz for 24h for exfoliation of oxidized graphites. Then, solutions were diluted with DIW (5, 10 and 20X) and stored in 100ml vials for natural sedimentation which was monitored by UV-vis analyzer. In addition, natural sedimentation in 2L mess cylinder (10X) was also attempted after 4 day and then 400ml solution was separated from top consecutively, which was filtered and analyzed by TGA, SEM and TEM, along with sheet resistance measurement. In addition, yield of few layer graphene was also evaluated. |
