제목 Synthesis and characterization of imide-based polyurethane with enhanced self-healability
초록 A functional polyurethane with imide moiety (PUI) is synthesized and its self-healing properties are examined compared with conventional polyurethane (PU). To prepare PUI, a polyol and an imide derivative containing either mono-hydroxyl group or di-hydroxyl groups are blended and the blend is reacted with crosslinker containing multiple isocyanate groups. Interestingly, by incorporating only a small amount of imide moiety to polyurethane, the self-healable PUI exhibits higher self-healing efficiency and faster self-healing kinetics than PU only. It is also noted that PUI based on imide derivative with di-hydroxyl groups exhibits excellent self-healing performances compared with that with mono-hydroxyl group. A model for the mechanism for self-healing is derived by analyzing FT-IR spectra, which concludes that the outstanding self-healability of PUI is attributed to the unique intermolecular networks resulting from the strong interactions between urethane groups and imide groups.
