Crystallization behavior and the structure of Poly (1, 4-cyclohexanedimethyl isosorbide terephthalate) containing renewable corn derived monomer, Isosorbide (PICT) were studied. Among the samples of PICT, ISB content of 5 mole % and 10 mole % showed crystallinity, where intriguing crystallization behavior could be observed differing from conventional PCT. The content of ISB is believed to be affecting the crystalline structure by deforming the lamella as seen in the polarized microscope imagery and WAXD profile showed that new peak was formed near (011) of PCT concluding that ISB incoperates in the formation of crystalline. Avrami index decreases when the growth rate of crystalline remains unchanged. This information gives rise to the structural change of crystallization according to crystallization temperature. The structure of PICT was analyzed by using COSY, HSQC, HMBC and sequence distribution was used to investigate the relation between ISB block and thermal properties. |
