제목 Development of Lightweight Polymer Composites for Automotive Parts
초록 Polymer composites have been important materials in the automotive industry because of their lower densities, lower costs and excellent processablilities compared to conventional steel parts. Although talc filled polypropylenes (PP’s) and short glass fiber reinforced polyamides (PA’s) were mainly used for automotive applications, other polymer composites are starting to emerge. Talc filled PP, long glass fiber reinforced PP, glass bubble reinforced PP, and carbon fiber reinforced PA were newly developed and mechanical properties were investigated. Some exterior, interior and body parts were prepared by using injection molding or compression molding machines. They showed 5~30% weight reduction without any loss in performance.
