In this work, we investigated the effects of nano-structured substrates on the adhesion, proliferation, and migration of fibroblast cells on the monolayer of the closest packed silica nano beads formed by adhesion of 200-500 nm silica beads from the ethanolic colloid suspensions. The growth rate of BALB/3T3 fibroblast cells on the layer of silica beads with 200-400 nm was retarded compared to the control glass substrate. The growth rate on the layer of silica beads with 500 nm was very similar to the control glass substrate. The results might be applicable to the assessment of biocompatibility of nano-structured substrates. |
