We demonstrated a new approach to make monodispersed phosphorescence-emitting silica nanoparticles embedding Ir(III)-complexes by modified Stöber method. The size of silica colloidal sphere was controlled by changing the concentration of ammonium and emission wavelength was tuned by changing in the ligands of Ir(III)-complex which have blue, green and red color. Using Layer-by-Layer deposition, phosphorescent emission of silica nanoparticles were enhanced by adsorption of carbazole-based host polyelectrolytes on the silica surface. In addition, energy transfer between multilayered shell and Ir(III)-complex embedded silica nanoparticles were controlled by changing multilayered shell thickness. Through control of energy transfer, we achieved multiple colored silica colloids. |
