Silsesquiazane (SSQZ) was blended with polystyrene (PS), poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), poly(iso-butyl methacrylate) (PBMA), and poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) to produced organic-inorganic hybrid material. The polymers were selected to provide specific interaction, such as π- π interaction or hydrogen bonding, with SSQZ. AFM studies reveals that PMMA and PBMA were miscible with SSQZ while PS and PVAc were immiscible. DSC analysis of the blends also supported the miscibility behaviors of the system. The glass transition temperature of PS/SSQZ was unchanged while that of PMMA/SSQZ increased continuously with SSQZ contents. The detailed studied elucidating the degree of interaction between SSQZ with miscible polymers were conducted using FT-IR, DSC, dielectric analysis.
