Rigid polyurethane foams (PUF) have been widely used for insulation in construction and industrial application due to their superior mechanical properties and low thermal conductivity. Application of rigid PUF as the heat insulations is restricted as heat and thermal resistance. Therefore, flame retardancy of PUF needs to be enhanced. Rigid PUF were prepared from polyol, diisocyanate, silicone surfactant, catalysts, blowing agents and various flame retardants. Properties of the PUF were obtained by thermal conductivity analyzer, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and universal testing machine (UTM). Flammability test was measured by the procedure of ASTM D 635-98.
