In this study, boron/silicon sol was applied to the wood which is the building interior material to reduce the damage caused by smoke in the fire and smoke density was investigated in flaming mode using smoke density chamber. The synthesized boron/silicon sol was measured for smoke density in accordance with the ASTM E 662 test method based on the performance standard of flame retardancy. The maximum smoke density of wood coated with flame retardants increased in the order of IBBA < PBA < BA, which was less than 400, the fire safety standard for wood. The smoke density at the beginning of the fire (VOF4) increased in the order of BA < IBBA < PBA, and PBA was the most dangerous materials due to the highest smoke density at the beginning of the fire. |
