Storage of thermal energy is a promising approach to increasing energy efficiency and improving the cost effectiveness of systems by minimizing the dissipation of energy. Phase change material (PCM) is one of the pathways for the heat energy storage. Sodium acetate trihydrate (SAT) is one of PCMs with a high energy storage density, but caused problems such as phase segregation and supercooling and so on. To solve these problems, we investigate the effectiveness of adding expanded graphite (EG) as nucleating agents. In addition, the use of high porous EG as nucleating agents minimize heat storage problems which is caused by adding the fillers. In this study, the effects of EG in the SAT composites on the thermal property, the latent heat, and the thermal cycling stability were examined. |
