Aluminum oxide (Al2O3) nanoparticles were synthesized from aluminum nitrate nonahydrate and, urea, oxalic acid, and citric acid fuels via a sol-gel combustion method. The as-prepared products were characterized by means of powder X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared, transmission electron microscope and scanning electron microscope. The effect of the used fuels resulted in the production of different phases, α and γAl2O3 nanoparticles. The adsorption properties of the active phase γAl2O3 for the removal of radioactive iodine from liquid waste were examined by batch adsorption study. Moreover the adsorption isotherms, rate determining kinetic and thermodynamic models are applied for the investigation of adsorption behavior. |
