Flat surfaces can not have the CA above 120° even though they have very low surface energy. Thus, it is very important to design the roughness of surface for superhydrophobic surface. The rough surface could be easily fabricated by the “wrinkling method” using the theromoplastic elastomer (TPE) /tackifier blended film as a substrate and the hydrophobic polymer thin film as a wrinkled material. The roughness is determined by the thickness of polymer films. So, we determined the optimal film thickness of polymers to control the roughness of superhydrophobic surfaces. Adhesion between the polymer and the TPE/tackifier films is also the important factor for superhydrophobic surfaces. To control the adhesion between polymer films and TPE/tackifier films, the optimum weight ratio of TPE and tackifier was determined. This superhydrophobic film can be used in smart windows to prevent moisture from surfaces such as solar panel. |
