Microcapsule based on azido-polyurethane (Azido-PU) that have highly reactive functional group was prepared. The pre-polymer of Azido-PU was synthesized using poly (GAP-co-THF) diol (PGT-diol) and MDI, and the microcapsule was prepared using the pre-polymer and chain-extender such as 1,4-butandiol by interfacial crosslinking reaction in emulsion. In addition, the synthesized azido-PU was used as microcapsule shell material because the shell needs functional group with high reactivity to conjugate solvatochromic dye. When the microcapsules are cracked by external stimulus, we could confirm the color change of the capsule with naked eye. Therefore, the crack to mend can be easily found by the color change and the color change notices the place where the solvent was leaked. And then, it is possible to detect which solvent was used because colors depend on degree of solvent’s polarity. Hence, the microcapsules can perform as a sensor and be applied to various field. |
