제목 | Surface modification effect of cathode in lithium-ion battery |
초록 | Among various cathode materials, high nickel LiNixCoyMnzO2 (NCM, x>0.8) which has high capacity and low cost, is in the spotlight as a next-generation material. However, high nickel NCM still has many problems. The highly reactive Ni4+ generated during charging process causes a side reaction with the electrolyte. This side reaction converts the surface structure of NCM from a layered structure to a spinel/rock salt structure. In this presentation, we will introduce the coating effect of the NCM surface. The NCM surface coating layer blocks direct contact between the electrolyte and the NCM to suppress side reactions. This effect can suppress cation mixing, thereby suppressing structural change and generation of oxygen gas during battery cycling. In addition, coating materials are doped into NCM lattice structure during heat treatment to increase structural stability. |
