A variety of nanostructures including nanofibers and nanotubes have attracted much attention because of their unique physical and chemical characteristics. In particular, the properties of the nanostructures depend on their size, shape, and dimensionality, which is in contrast with their bulk counterpart. Herein, we synthesized polyaniline nanostructures with different aspect ratios in the presence of a steric stabilizer, poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP). The obtained PANI nanostructures were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and so forth. Importantly, the polymerization reaction of the nanostructures was monitored by using open-circuit potential technique, which successfully provided an in-depth insight into the dependence of the PANI morphology on the reaction kinetics at the nanometer scale. |
