제목 Study on the ClO2 production from NaClO3 to remove SOx and NOx
초록 Reaction kinetics of ClO2 production from sodium chlorate was studied in a well stirred reactor at various temperatures and molar concentrations. The kinetic rate equation was established. Effect of temperature and concentration of sodium chlorate, sodium chloride and sulfuric acid on the reaction rate was investigated by analyzing the consumption of chlorate and chloride or production of ClO2 and Cl2 using iodometric or argentometric titrations.
The experimental ClO2/Cl2 ratio was found to higher than the theoretical one as expected by the reaction:

2NaClO3 + 2NaCl +2H2SO4 -> 2Na2SO4 +2ClO2 + Cl2 +2H2O

ClO2/Cl2 ratio is markedly affected by ratio of NaClO3/NaCl. The optimum NaClO3/NaCl ratio for maximum ClO2/Cl2 ratio was found in the range of 2.0-4.0. Reaction mechanism and possible side reaction responsible for the enhanced ratio of ClO2/Cl2 were proposed.
