Preparation and Characterizations of Sulfonated Poly(arylene sulfone) Multiblock Copolymers for PEMFC Applications |
초록 |
Two series of multiblock copolymers based on sulfonated poly(arylene sulfone) blocks with highly acidic sulfonic acid groups were prepared. Multiblock copolymers with various IEC values were prepared by controlling the molecular weights of their hydrophilic and hydrophobic oligomers. The prepared block copolymer membranes with high ion exchange capacities above 1.90 meq/g showed improved water absorption behaviors (higher dimensional stability and lower water uptake) as well as higher proton conductivity (>0.2 and >0.020 S/cm under 100% and 50% RH, respectively, at 80 ℃) compared with conventional multiblock copolymers based on sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone)s. Their high oxidative and thermal stability were also confirmed by Fenton’s test and TGA analysis. Finally, the multiblock copolymer membranes in this study showed similar or higher cell performances compared with that of Nafion 212 (~1053 mA/cm2 @ 0.6 V). |
