The conjugated monomers based polymer membranes were prepared with 15-25 mol% of bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-1,2-diphenyl ethylene (BHDPE), and 30-50 mol% of 4,4-(2,2-diphenylethenylidene)bisphenol (DHTPE) each. And Multi block copolymers were prepared with 10-17 mol% of hydrophilic oligomer containing DHTPE and 1,2-bis(4-fluorobenzoyl)-3,4,5,6-tetraphenylbenzene (BFBTPB). BHDPE and DHTPE are conjugated planar conformation structure containing the peripheral four aromatic rings which enable to form π-π interactions. A series of sulfonated poly(ether sulfone)s (S-PBHDPE and S-PDHTPE) and sulfonated multiblock copolymers (MSBP) were synthesized with conc. sulfuric acid. The sulfonation took place selectively on BHDPE, DHTPE and BFBTPB units. These membranes structures and characteristic were evaluated by the 1H-NMR spectroscopy, and thermal stabilities. The membrane were performed by ion exchange capacity (IEC), water uptake and proton conductivity as a function of degree of sulfonation. |
