제목 Oxidative Stress Amplifying Mineralized Nanoparticles in Combination with Enzymes for Cancer Therapy
초록 Elevated ROS levels are promising research targets for cancer therapy. Cancer cells are known to be more vulnerable than normal cells to the oxidative stress. Thus, there have been many attempts to modulate the ROS level to kill the cancer cells. In particular, the Fenton reaction that amplifies the oxidative stress by generating hydroxyl radicals has been recognized as one of the powerful routes for effective cancer therapy. Herein, we developed a Cu-doped superoxide dismutase-loaded mineralized nanoparticle (Cu/SOD-MNP) through the anionic block copolymer-templated in situ mineralization approach. The Cu/SOD-MNP would intracellularly release SOD and Cu2+ ions. SOD converts superoxide anions to hydrogen peroxide, and the Cu2+ ions can subsequently catalyze the conversion of hydrogen peroxide into highly toxic apoptosis-inducing hydroxyl radicals. This mineralized oxidative stress amplifying agent may find broad applications in cancer therapy.
