One of the improved techniques for the removal of CO2 is chemical absorption with solid regenerable sorbents. Creating alternative strategy for the existing commercialized method is of the major importance. On this point of view, the amino-acid functionalized ionic liquids, which are the counterparts of the amines (in amine scrubbing method), are of priorities. Hence, in this work we present the synthesis and theoretical proof for the attraction of selected amino acids i.e., lysine, glycine, proline, and alanine as anion for ionic liquids based on methylethylimidazolium cation. The covalently immobilized SBA-IL-AA samples showed controllable basic strength at various selected pH. The CO2 absorption activity comes from the parent anionic amino acid groups. Among the absorbents synthesized, the SBA-IL(Lys) exhibited the best performance at absorption temperature of 40 0C.
