Nanoclay composite barrier layer formation on plastic substrate |

Nanoclay with high aspect ratio was used for composite layer formation in order to enhance the barrier properties as well as the surface hardness of the plastic substrate. Several nanoclays were tested and their characteristics were correlated with performance of the layer. Modification of nanoclay with surfactant was performed to increase the d-spacing of for performance enhancement of the layer. Addition of swelling agent and incorporation of coupling agent were also attempted. Nanoclay composite layer prepared in this work showed enhanced barrier properties and surface hardness for its application to flexible display. |
