A typical approach applying on different functional polymer for synthesis, functionalization and self-assembly of Gold nanorods is introduced in this study. First GNRs with Aspect ratio about 4 (diameter ~12 nm; length~50 nm) was synthesized via CTAB as a stablizier and capping agent. And with the aid of cosurfactant-BDAC GNRs with AR ~6 (diameter~12nm; length~70 nm) was also successfully formed. In order to overcome the chemical inert and biotoxicity of CTAB, the PEG thiol is used to replace CTAB, endowing GNRs chemical activity and soluble in both aqueous and organics solvent (such as benzene, toluene). In order to achieve large scale order of GNRs, Block copolymer PS-PEO is mixed with PEG-coated GNRs solution, following by spin-coating the mixture on the silicon substrate. Relying on the variety phase behavior of PS-PEO, different morphologies of ordered-GNRs in the block copolymer template are expected to be found. |
