제목 N-(2-hydroxyethyl)succinimide potassium salt-initiated polymerization of EO and block copolymerization of propylene sulfide
초록 We have developed a useful method to control the molecular weight of poly(ethylene oxide) by n-butyllithium (n-BuLi)-initiated ring-opening polymerization of ethylene oxide (EO) with tert-butoxide (t-BuOK) in the mixture of benzene/DMSO at 35℃ for 48h. In addition, an alkoxide bearing sodium or potassium counterion is well known to initiate ethylene oxide leading to living polymerization in polar solvent. In this study, N-(2-hydroxyethyl)succinimide was converted to the corresponding potassium alkoxide in THF using potassium naphthalenide, followed by polymerization of ethylene oxide at 50℃ for 12h. After complete polymerization, propylene sulfide was delivered into the reactor via a breakseal technique under high vacuum. The resulting polymer was used as a polymeric stabilizer to stabilize gold nanoparticles from chloroauric acid in ethanol at 40℃. In this presentation the preliminary results will be discussed.
