Polyanilines have attracted much attention because of their unique properties such as fast switch of redox states and effects of various dopants. The oxidation level of can be readily affected by their inherent reversible doping-dedoping mechanisms, causing the variations in conductivity, color, mass, volume, and so forth. In this study, t-butoxycarbonyl (t-BOC) substituted oligoanilines, which were soluble in common solvents and protected from oxidation, were synthesized by palladium-catalyzed aromatic amination. Alkoxy silane-functionalized octameric oligoanilines were prepared and self-assembled to form monolayers on indium tin oxide (ITO) substrates. After removal of t-BOC group and doping with bulky acid, electrochemical properties and morphologies were studied using cyclic voltammetry (CV), atomic force microscope (AFM) and contact angle measurement. |
