Cutaneous Wound Healing by Curcumin loaded Polyviny Alcohol-Oxidized Cellulose Nanofiber Composites in rat excisional wound model |

Hydrophobic polyphenol curcumin is a well established traditional anti-inflammatory, wound healing, anti-infective agent. To reduce hydrophobicity and increase cellular uptake of curcumin, a novel biocompatible composite polymer system was developed by freeze-thaw process. The composite consists of both natural and synthetic polymers TEMPO-Oxidized Cellulose Nanofiber (TOCN) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) respectively. To increase the solubility of curcumin, pluronic was used. SEM images of prepared gel show porous morphology, which were affected by change in PVA concentration. Moreover, in vitro analysis revealed control release of curcumin and cellular uptake of curcumin. So, curcumin loaded TOCN-PVA gel has great potential for wound healing. |
