제목 Nitric Oxide Releasing Artificial Membranes Anchored on Titanium for Selective Control of Vascular Cells
초록 Surface-tethered lipid bilayer (TLB) membranes with incorporated lipophilic NO donor (10-nitrooleate) into the bilayer coated on titanium to achieve controlled release of NO. The NO-releasing TLB membranes are prepared via two steps, Tethering of phospholipids then fusion of 10-nitrooleate-containing liposomes. Protein adsorption test with albumin and fibrinogen shows significantly diminished adsorption rates on the TLB-coated titanium than that on bare titanium. TLB membranes with different amounts of incorporated 10-nitrooleate (15, 25 and 30%) release NO at similar patterns up to 48 h, although the half-dose release rates are evidently different (3.3, 2.6 and 1.8 h). In vitro study reveals the cellular species-dependent result demonstrating the selective effects of released NO and TLB membrane that promotes endothelial cells but suppresses smooth muscle cells. The results open up a door for the potential use of NO-releasing TLB coating for a wide range of biomedical devices.
