제목 Effects of surface functionality on butane working capacity of modified activated carbons
초록 This study evaluated the effects of surface functional groups of activated carbons (AC) on the butane working capacity (BWC). The surface functional groups on the AC surface were controlled by a thermal reduction technique using heat treatment of the range of 600 to 1000°C in a hydrogen/argon (H2:Ar = 4:96 vol.%) atmosphere. Textural properties before and after thermal reduction were observed using N2/77K isothermal adsorption/desorption. The composition of each functional group on the AC was determined by an X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and a high-resolution deconvolution technique. The BWC of all samples was measured according to the ASTM D5228.
