In this study, we propose a novel anode candidate, the hexagonally close-packed (hcp) monolayer with Fe3O4/C hollow microspheres, for the lithium-ion batteries. Although this hcp monolayer electrode consists of only active materials without a polymeric binder and carbon additives such as AB and Super-P, the electrodes exhibit a superior cyclability with coulombic efficiency of 98 % due to the good structural stability and electrical conductivity of the monolayer film. The morphological and structural characterization of the hcp monolayer electrode was conducted by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, focused-ion beam SEM, transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffractometery. |
