Potassium tetratitanate (K2Ti4O9) fiber has been prepared by use of the ionexchange and gelation of sodium alginate fiber. After obtaining K-Ti-alginate fiber, theywere calcined in air at 800℃. The average length and the thickness of potassiumtetratitanate were about 2.5 cm and 150 ㎛, respectively. The excess content ofpotassium ratio of K/Ti in the mixture solution of potassium nitrate and titanium sulfate(K/Ti >0) was necessary for the complete formation of potassium tetratitanate in fiberform.
