Control of hierarchical structure of CNT/metal nanoparticle/block copolymer ternary composite |
초록 |
Application of carbon nanotubes was significantly restricted by the aggregation tendency and the resulting difficulty of controlling individual nanotubes caused by van der Waals force in spite of their excellent properties. The amphiphilic block copolymer has been used as a dispersant for single wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) with the advantage of its nondestructive way. We have practiced the dispersion of SWNT with Poly(styrene-b-4 vinyl pyridine) micelles, and subsequently found that the stabilization of SWNTs by the block copolymer micelles adhering to the surface of nanotubes is much superior to that by either surfactants or high molecular polymers currently used. The self-assembly of block copolymer enables us to confine SWNTs in block copolymer microdomains with the regular spacing and orientation. We also demonstrate that gold nanoparticles are selectively decorated in polar cores of micelles adsorbed on the surface of SWNTs and the subsequent heat treatment modifies the surface of SWNTs. The nanoparticles render the conductivity of the composite increase through improving the internanotube contact. The highly networked hierarchical structure formed by ternary components: block copolymer, SWNTs, and metal nanoparticle allows us to fabricate a transparent flexible electrode. |
