The preparation of tubular hydrogels in different geometries and functionalities was done by employing microfluidic system, combined with alginate templating method. The functionalities are gained through the temperature and pH responsive property, which is obtained by the incorporation of responsive monomers such as N-isopropylacrylamide, sodium acrylate, and allyl amine. To get the desired geometries, such as the tubular hydrogels diameters, control of flow rates and capillaries diameter in the microfluidic system was applied. For the advanced geometries, such as hollow and double-walled microtubes, it was performed by exchanging the precursor solutions position and adding the capillaries to the microfluidic system. The flexibility of this system allows it for further studies, such as for biocompatible wearable sensor and artificial human blood vessel. |
