Metal nanoparticles are known to have unique features, such as surface plasmon absorption, magnetic character, and high catalytic activity, due to their particle size. Recently, we have developed a novel method to prepare silver nanoparticles by photochemical reduction of the Ag+-incorporated poly(ethyleneimine) (PEI)/polyacrylic acid (PAA) alternate thin film and explored micropatterning using a patterned mask. In this study the silver nanoparticles were prepared by reduction of Ag+ ions incorporated in a TiO2/polymer nano-hybrid ultrathin films that were assembled with a polymer (PAA, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), or starch) and Ti(O-nBu)4 by the surface sol-gel process. The TiO2/polymer film growth and the silver nanoparticles formation were confirmed by quartz crystal microbalance (QCM), AFM, XPS and UV-vis spectroscopy. |
