Boron is a weakly-ionized species, which is hard to be removed completely by conventional processes for ultrapure water, such as ion exchange, reverse osmosis technologies. Alternatively, polymer based chelating resins are of great interest for boron removal due to their high boron adsorption capacity, provided by multiple hydroxyl groups. Here, copolymer (methyl methacrylate and glycidyl methacrylate) beads are prepared, and functionalized with N-methyl-D-glucamine. The effect size and porosity of polymer beads on boron adsorption capacity and kinetic was investigated at different pH, and compared to a conventional boron adsorbent, CRB03. |
