The purity and the yield of crystals in pharmaceutical industry are the important properties to determine the quality and the productivity. Salting-out crystallization is used widely to upgrading yield and purity of pharmaceutical ingredient. Ursodeoxycholic acid is used as an active pharmaceutical ingredient for this study. There are two processes combined to produce it: synthesis process and purification process. Purification process needs to remove impurities. Salting-out crystallization is controlled by various parameters including cooling rate, cooling temperature, TEA adding rate, solvent ratio. These parameters affect supersaturation. Nucleation and growth kinetics were also investigated in salting-out crystallization. |
