제목 Flame retardancy of viscose rayon coupled with silane compounds
초록 At present there is growing interest in using cellulose and cellulose-based products for applications in various industries (mainly building and transportation). One of the limitations to use of cellulose is its flammability. The best way to improve the fire performance of cellulose is by chemical treatment with flame retardants.
In this study, methyl trimethoxy silane was coupled onto the surface of viscose rayon.
The thermal behavior of these modifications studied through thermogravimetric analysis and flame retardant effects of these modifications have been assessed by measurements of limiting oxygen indices (LOI), and of elemental analysis. Silane coupling with viscose rayon showed higher limiting oxygen index (LOI) values.
