The Effect Of Ultrasonic Treatment On The Physical And Mechanical Properties Of Poly(lactic acid)/Triethyl citrate/Zeolite Composites |

PLA/TEC/zeolite composites with different zeolite contents (5, 10, 15 phr) were prepared with an internal mixer. The TEC was used as a plasticizer for PLA and a dispersant of zeolite, and the optimum amount of 20 phr of TEC was selected. The effect of the ultrasonic treatment of TEC/zeolite solution was assessed, and it was found that the flexibility was maintained despite the high content, up to 15 phr of zeolite. The elongation at break is profoundly enhanced more than 20 times as compared to PLA/zeolite composite without the ultrasonic treatment due to the better dispersion of zeolite. The morphological observation confirmed that the zeolite is well dispersed in TEC, and the water vapor adsorption capacity was also found to increase with the increasing zeolite contents. |
