Titanium dioxide has been widely used as a catalyst and photocatalyst, and has attracted scientific interest for reactions of environmental and industrial importance. TiO2 film shows the hydrophilicity due to the photocatalytic nature of TiO2. For example, the TiO2 film is so hydrophilic that the oily substances adsorbed on the surface can be easily removed. Nanosized TiO2 thin films have been very attractive for various applications such as dye sensitized photovoltaic cells, memory cell capacitors, gas sensors, planar wave guides, multiplayer mirrors and solar energy converters. Nanosized TiO2 thin film on glass substrate was obtained through coating method using titanic chloride solution. In this study, the preparation of thin film on glass was carried out to investigate the effects of concentration of titanic chloride solution and calcination temperature. The obtained thin films were characterized using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, and probe reaction. |
