Recently, nanoparticles have got a great attention in many research fields. Among various nanoparticles, magnetic nanoparticles have been drawing expressive technological interests in medical diagnostics and therapy. However it faces the serious challenge of cyto-toxicity and unreliable sensing signal which occurs from non-specific interactions between the particles and bio-molecules. We have conducted the research to compromise the problem. In this study, we applied functional coatings on magnetic particles that were comprised of weak polyelectrolytes. By controlling the deposition condition of the coating, we could prevent irreversible coagulation of magnetic particles. Furthermore, we could tune the chemical functionality, surface morphology and biological activity of the coatings and demonstrate potent application related to microfluidic system. |
