Synthesis of LaCoO3 Catalyst by Nanocasting and Investigation of its Performance Improvement in Oxygen Reduction Reaction and Oxygen Evolution Reaction for Secondary Zinc-Air Batteries |

Secondary Zinc-air batteries have low manufacturing cost, stable and non-explosive advantages, but have disadvantages such as low cycle performance and low activity for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in the air cathode. Pt/Ru catalyst have been considered as the best existing catalyst for the air electrode, however, its scarcity and high cost is a significant disadvantage. Hence, studies were being conducted in search of an economical catalyst having an ORR and OER performance comparable to that of Pt/Ru catalyst. Among the materials with high potential to replace Pt/Ru catalyst are the catalysts with perovskite structure. In this study, we impregnate LaCoO3 in the pore of SBA-15 by nanocasting method. Catalytic performance for OER and ORR was measured by three electrode cell in alkaline solution. |
