제목 | Anti-calcification properties of zwitterionic polymer grafted polyurethane surfaces |
초록 | Calcification of implantable devices has been a major issue. To overcome this, surface modification with anti-fouling ability has been used, and zwitterionic materials have already been reported to have great anti-fouling ability. In this study, the surface modification was developed for anti-calcification property by grafting zwitterionic polymers (poly(sulfobetaine methacrylate-co-tyramine) (pSBTA)) onto polyurethane surfaces via facile enzyme-mediated reaction. The in vivo anti-calcification effects were analyzed by ICP (reduced Ca ion amounts (75.6 to 45.6 μg/cm2)). These results suggest that surfaces modified with pSBTA could be promising candidates for implantable medical devices with anti-calcification.
