π-conjugated molecules have recently been of central interest in the research field of organic electronics. The properties of interest are associated with charge acceptance/transport, energy transport, opto-physical/chemical properties such as fluorescence/phosphorescence, etc. These properties are mainly intrinsic properties of π-conjugated molecules which can be manipulated by adjusting π-conjugation length and/or introducing proper substituents at appropriate positions; however, they are also affected by intermolecular interactions. Therefore, better understanding of the factors affecting these properties is imperative to design new molecules and fabricate better devices. In this talk, I will discuss about recent theoretical results in the range from the intrinsic properties of both π-conjugated small molecule and polymers to effects of intermolecular interactions, in particular, in the excited state. |
