제목 | Polymer Electrolytes and their Applications to Membranes, Fuel Cells and Solar Cells |
초록 | Polymer electrolytes are formed when metal salts are dissolved in a polymer solvent, and are thus dissolciated into in metal cations and corresponding counter anions. When silver salts such as AgBF4 are dissolved in a polar polymer solvent such as poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) (POZ), free silver ions are formed and react with olefin reversibly. Therefore silver polymer electrolytes can act as an olefin carrier for facilitated transport and showed extremely high separation performance for olefin/paraffin mixtures. The structural changes upon silver ion coordination to the polymer solvent and transport properties have been investigated to understand the mechanism of facilitated transport. Since polymer electrolytes are ionically conductive, they can be applied to electrochemical devices such as secondary batteries, fuel cell and solar cells. The facilitated transport concept can also be utilized for improving ionic conductivity through solid state polymer electrolytes. In particular, the facilitated transport of proton for direct methanol fuel cells (DMFC) as well as of I- and I3 - for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) are explored. |
