Chromium ion adsorption properties using fluorinated activated carbons |

In this study, phenol-based activated carbons (ACs) were fluorinated at various fluorine partial pressure (0.01~0.03 MPa) and chromium ion adsorption of the fluorinated ACs was investigated. The pore structure and specific surface area of the fluorinated ACs are assessed by N2 adsorption at 77K, and their surface properties were investigated by XPS. As a result, the total pore volume and specific surface area of the fluorinated ACs were increased by 55.8% and 24.7% compared with untreated ACs. Then the removal efficiency of chromium ion was up to 98% at 300 mg/L of initial concentration, and these results showed an approximately three-fold increase compared with untreated ACs. |
