제목 Development of apoptosis-inducing polypeptide by mitochondria-destabilzation
초록 Cationic α-helical polypeptides have been exhibited high cell-penetrating ability and usually have been used as cell-penetrating peptides to deliver drugs or genes into the cell. Mitochondria play a key role in inducing apoptosis in the cell. In this background, we developed mitochondria destabilizing polypeptide (MDP) using cell-penetrating ability of cationic α-helical polypeptide. To endow mitochondria-destabilizing ability to the MDP for inducing apoptosis, lipophilic cation moiety was attached as pendants in the side chain of polypeptide. MDP showed high α-helical properties that is necessary for cell-penetrability and mitochondria-destabilizing ability. MDP also exhibited unprecedented high cytotoxicity and apoptotic signals in various cancer cell lines. MDP has a high potential to applicate in various researches of cancer therapy regarding with its unprecedented high mitochondria-destabilizing ability.
