A series of new organic semiconducting polymers containing 3,6-dimethylthieno[3,2-b]thiophene and 3,6-dimethylselenopheno[3,2-b]selenophene as the core units were successfully synthesized via oxidative coupling reaction. The UV-vis absorption maxima of PDT2mTTm and PDT2mSeSem appeared at 382 and 398 nm in solution and 394 and 416 nm in film, respectively. However, in case of PDT2T2mSeSem incorporating core space controller, unsubstituted thiophene, UV-vis absorption patterns were very different from PDT2mTTm and PDT2mSeSem. The macroscopic and microscopic structures of these polymers were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). PDT2mTTm and PDT2mSeSem exhibited very poor TFT performances. However, very interestingly, PDT2T2mSeSem containing core space controller was very sharply improved TFT performances with mobility and an on/off ratio. |
