Molecularly imprinted materials have potential uses in applications such as chemical sensors, catalysts, and membranes for separating toxic chemicals. Molecularly imprinted mesoporous silica particles were synthesized by a sol-gel reaction of TEOS and triethoxysilane-DES (template) complex in an aqueous solution of CTAB and subsequent extraction of the template molecules. The triethoxysilane-template complex was prepared by the reaction of the triethoxysilane compound having an isocyanate group and DES having phenol moieties, in which the template was attached to the monomer via a thermally reversible urethane bond. The structures of the silica particles were investigated by SEM, TEM, X-ray diffraction, and N2 adsorption-desorption experiment. The specific recognition ability of the imprinted silica particles for the DES and its structural analogues was investigated. |
